Roof replacement in Novelty OH
Radiant Roofing finished a full roof replacement in Novelty OH, just a short drive from Chesterland and the orchards at Patterson Fruit Farm. This home had an older asphalt shingle roof that was past its useful life, with worn spots and a few areas where water had been getting through for a while. Our team started with a full tear off, pulling all the old shingles off down to the wood decking underneath so we could see exactly what we were working with.

Replacing The Roof Decking
Once the old shingles were off, we found a few sections of decking that had soft spots and water stains from years of small leaks. Roof decking is the layer of plywood or OSB that the shingles actually attach to, and if it gets wet to often it starts to rot and wont hold nails the way it should. We cut out the damaged sections and put in new plywood decking so the whole roof has a solid base before anything else goes back on top. Skipping this step is one of the bigger mistakes a roofer can make on an older home like this one.
