New Roof Install in Chagrin Falls Near The Tanglewood Club
Another a big roof replacement project in Chagrin Falls OH, right near the Tanglewood Club off Solon Road. The homeowner had hail damage from one of those storms we got in January 2026, and their insurance claim got approved for a full new roof install. This was a 50 square ranch-style home with 3 skylights, so it was a solid size job that kept our team busy.
As a licensed, bonded, and insured roofing company based right here in the Cleveland metro area, we see a lot of hail damage claims come through from cities like Chagrin Falls, Solon, Aurora, and all across Cuyahoga and Geauga counties. Hail can be tricky because sometimes the damage isn’t obvious from the ground. But up close on the roof, you can see the dents and cracks in the shingles pretty clear.
After tearing off all the old damaged shingles, we inspected the plywood decking underneath. We always do a full deck inspection at this stage. If there’s any rotted or soft spots in the wood, we replace those sections before anything else goes on. On this Chagrin Falls home the decking was in good shape overall, which is always nice to see.(see attached photos)
Once the deck was solid, we got right to work laying down TopShield TS20 synthetic roofing underlayment. This stuff is way better then the old felt paper. Its lighter, lays flatter, and holds up if it rains before shingles go on. We cap nail it across the entire roof so everything stays tight and secure before a single shingle gets installed.

Choosing the Right Shingle for a Hail Damage Roof Replacement
A very common question we hear from homeowners after a hail damage claim is “should I just get the same shingle I had before, or upgrade to something better?” With an insurance claim, your policy usually covers the same replacement. But many homeowners choose to pay a small upgrade cost out of pocket to get a better looking or more durable shingle., just like this owner did. For this Chagrin Falls home, we installed Atlas Pinnacle Pristine in the Black Shadow color. Its a architectural style shingle with Scotchgard protector built in. Northeast Ohio gets humid summers and that moisture can cause black staining on lighter colored roofs over the years. The Scotchgard technology in these shingles fights that.
The finished product came out great. Clean lines, proper ridge vent for attic ventilation, and all the flashings around the skylights and pipe boots sealed up tight. The homeowner was really happy with how the Black Shadow color looked against the house.
